Solomon keeping busy since UA commitment

It was no secret that Arizona was looking to add a quarterback in its 2013 recruiting class, and before they knew it the Wildcats had two highly-ranked signal callers committed. The first prospect to give his verbal pledge to the 'Cats was Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman standout Anu Solomon.

The four-star recruit made his decision back in May, and since that time a lot has happened in Tucson. June was a busy month for the Wildcats as 15 prospects decided to give UA their pledges. Add to that Derek Babiash on July 1 and the program currently sits with 22 commitments.
Meanwhile, with his decision out of the way, Solomon has been preparing for his final season with the Gaels and trying to stay in touch with his future staff as the same time.
"Everything has been going great," he said. "I've been keeping in touch with the coaching staff every few weeks. I try to do my best to stay in touch with them to build up that chemistry.
Solomon's squad has only lost a few games during his career, and the team has high expectations every every season. This year Bishop Gorman has another tough schedule ahead of it, and that has been a focus for Solomon this offseason.
"Everything is much easier now, because I don't have as much stress on my shoulders," he said about having made his college choice already. "I've been working out with my team and going to seven-on-seven tournaments and watching film on all these teams we're going to go up against.
"I mean this are not just any teams, we're talking about national powerhouse teams we're going to play this year. So we're doing our best to study what they do."
With so much going on, Solomon has been trying to keep a close eye on what is going on with his future program.
"I've been paying attention a lot," he said. "Every now and then I check the updates on who committed to Arizona, because again I talk to the coaches and I feel like we're trying to build a dream team here. And I'm just trying to do my best to help them bring even more exposure to our team, because we are getting so much talent on the offense and defensive sides of the ball."
One of the Wildcats' new additions during the rush of commitments in June was fellow signal caller Brandon Cox, who was at one time a four-star prospect like Solomon. With quarterback being an integral part of the future of the program, he is excited about the competition when he arrives to Tucson.
"Brandon Cox is a good guy," Solomon said. "I threw against him and with him at the Elite 11 tryouts. He has a good arm and good athleticism. It's a competitive sport and we are going to have to compete for that job, so I'll enjoy playing with him next four years."
With Solomon committing so early in the process there was always a chance that other schools would continue to show interest in the Rivals250 prospect, but the UA commit is very happy with his decision.
"I've received some letters from some schools," he said. "But there's nothing that will change my commitment. I am totally committed to Arizona, and there's nothing anyone can do to change my mind."
For now the senior-to-be is focused on winning as many games as he can before heading off to college, and if his team's past is any indication that will likely continue to happen.
