Ever since he was born Rhett Rodriguez was committed to a school. He of course didn't know which one as it all depended where his dad would be coaching at the time he was ready to begin his college career.

Now a senior at Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson the 2017 quarterback knows he will be at Arizona where he will get to play for his dad, Rich Rodriguez, and the Wildcats.

The three-star prospect was one of Arizona's first commits in the class, because well it as a no-brainer of a decision for Rodriguez. He knew he always wanted to play for his dad and when an official offer came through it was just a formality at that point.

"It's awesome," Rodriguez said of knowing he'll be playing on a team coached by his dad next year. "It's always been my dream to play for my dad, so I knew if I ever got the chance I was going there. For me it was really Arizona or nothing. I didn't have a second option and I don't have any back-ups.

"It's just a relief to know all the hard work I've put in and all the hard work we did as a team really helped us out."

In his 2016 debut Rodriguez tossed three touchdown passes and helped lead his Catalina Foothills squad - which also features UA offensive line coach Jim Michalczik's son, Max - to a win over Tempe High last Friday night. Rodriguez gave himself a C-minus for his performance, and he is always looking to his dad for advice to help him get wins and grow his game.

"During the game I said, 'well what are you seeing?'" the four-year starting quarterback said. "And he kind of told me what he saw in the defense, and I always go to him with any questions I've got and he always helps me out."
