Chandler, Ariz., prospect Mitch McCulley has continued to work this spring playing with Arizona-based Those Guys on the 7v7 circuit in hopes of pulling in his first offer. So far the 2014 prospect continues to wait, but that hasn't stopped the work as he prepares to head into the rest of spring and into the summer before his senior year.
"It's been great getting out with Those Guys and getting some exposure for myself," McCulley told GOAZCATS.com. "And then with the Rivals camp and NFTC it was good to get out and see what the West Coast has to offer and try to prove myself against some of the competition."
The receiver recruit knows he wants to be a go-to player next season at Chandler, and a lot of McCulley's focus this spring has been on improving himself as a receiver in different areas.
"Speed and being physical off the ball have been focuses this spring," he said. "That's what I've been trying to do out here and at Chandler."
McCulley was at Arizona's junior day earlier in the year, but there is another school that has shown some pretty significant interest as well.
"Utah State has been talking with me a lot," he said. "I went to their spring game a couple weeks ago and they want me to come to their camp. I really like them."
The Wildcats are a school that remains involved for McCulley at this point.
"Yeah, they're still in the picture," he said. "I still talk to them every once in a while and they came by for spring ball recently. Right now there's some interest, but we'll have to see where it goes from there."
McCulley mentioned that Weber State also stopped by practice recently as well.
At this point McCulley is hoping to expand his game during his senior season by showing an ability to play all over the field.
"I want to be a guy who can play in the slot or on the outside," he said. "I want to be versatile."
McCulley, who had over 700 yards receiving last season, hopes that another big year with the Wolves leads to some offers and more options.
"I just gotta keep playing," he said. "I can't wait for the season, and if I ball out then hopefully some colleges will take looks at me."
