It's the middle of June in Tucson, where temperatures are nearing triple digits at the start of monsoon season. But to get your mind off the heat, Arizona's football staff teamed up with the video production staff once more.
The latest sizzle reel titled "Hard Edge" has the coaching staff in the wild West. Hey, head coach Rich Rodriguez has mentioned a few times that he's a big fan of the 1976 Western "The Outlaw Josie Wales."
And like athletic director Greg Byrne ultimately wants, it had social media talking. The latest debate appears to be over the exact premise of the 2-minute, 39-second clip. While that's not entirely clear, the production value at least holds your attention.
The video has a little bit of everything, from a slow-mo walk by the staff down a dirt road to the appropriate music to tight ends coach Charlie Ragle getting tossed out of a saloon. And this is all done with the staff in full costume, cigars and cowboy hats included.
The final touch is with the credits rolling toward the end. But it's not about the stares as the camera takes a close-up of each member of the staff. It's about the executive producer: Rita Rodriguez, the wife of the second-year head coach.
We're still a little more than two months from college football season. Love it, hate it or indifferent, this beats thinking about the wacky weather.
