In the Pac-12 you don't see many teams that run a I-Formation or Power-I where the offensive mindset is to run it right down your throat for most of the game. However, Arizona had that on its schedule in FCS opponent North Dakota State.
I wasn't pretty at times and Arizona's defense got gashed for 283 yards on the ground. Still, the Wildcats were able to come away with a gritty 31-28 win over NDSU improving to 2-1 for the first time since the 2019 season.
Even with giving up all those rushing yards, Arizona's offense wasn't the only highlight side of the field making plays and earning helmet stickers.
QB Jayden de LauraÂ
Jayden de Laura is a mobile quarterback that took heavy criticism in the Arizona's loss to Mississippi State for not running the football on his own when he had open field in from of him.
That changed against the Bison with de Laura using his legs and rushing for a career-high 50 yards and a touchdown. Plus, he was able to go 20-for-28 with 229 yards passing with a touchdown.
De Laura threw his one touchdown pass to wide out Jacob Cowing went on to be the game-winning play giving the Wildcats a 31-28 victory. He ended the night with a quarterback rating of 197.6 according to stat broadcast.
