Getting to know Arizona commit Mike Turner

Arizona recently secured its second verbal commitment for the 2006 class in standout cornerback Mike Turner. Since he's given the same interview over and over tonight on his commitment to Arizona, GOAZCATS.com wanted to let Arizona fans get to know their future corner with a look at all the unimportant, yet interesting, things in Turner's life.

Q & A with Mike Turner

What is your favorite food? My mom makes the best homemade tacos.

What type of music do you listen to? I listen to all kinds of music I like country, rap, oldies; it doesn't matter to me, I like everything. I always had to listen to oldies growing up in my mom's car so I just ended up liking it.

What is your favorite sport to play besides football? I played baseball my entire life and just started playing football in seventh grade, but baseball was my favorite sport. I used to play shortstop and second base.

What is your favorite sport to watch? I love to watch football. I can't stand to watch basketball or baseball. All of my brothers watch that stuff but I get too bored with it. If I go to a game that is different but I can't sit down and watch those sports on TV.

What is your favorite television show? I would probably say ESPN and Sportscenter.

What type of movies do you like? I love action movies.

Who is your favorite actor? It is definitely Bruce Willis.

What are your favorite types of video games? Like my movies I like to play action games. I can only play a sports game too long before it is the same thing over and over. I love to play the game Metal Gear just cause it has a ton of action.

What do you do for fun? I just like to hang out with my friends and my girlfriend.

What is your favorite vacation spot? I have never really left California so I am not sure, but I love to go down to Santa Cruz so that would have to be my favorite.

What do you want to major in? I want to major in law or fire science because I would like to become a police officer or fire fighter.

What is your favorite class subject? Probably algebra - I just like math.

Who is your favorite football team? I feel embarrassed to say this but it is the 49ers (author's note: he shouldn't feel bad at all because those of us who have cheered for the Cardinals our entire lives have it a little worse.)

Who is your favorite football player? Definitely Charles Woodson. I love the way he plays although he doesn't do as much now as he used to and doesn't seem to love the game as much as he used to, but he is still my favorite player.

Who did you root for growing up? I always grew up rooting for Miami.

Which California school did you grow up cheering for? I always kinda followed Cal and cheered for them.

Are you excited to play against Cal as a Wildcat? Yeah I am really excited.

Who has the best coaching staff in America? (laughs) I would say Arizona.
