Fall Camp is here
The 2006 Arizona Football season takes another step closer to kicking off today when the Wildcats report to Rincon Vista field for the start of Fall Camp. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll get a closer look at what should be the best UA football team in several years.

Things kick off tonight at 6:00pm and run until the "Meet the Team" scrimmage on August 19th at Arizona Stadium. In-between today and the 19th, the UA will have 17 practices and two scrimmages, all of which will be open to the public.
The football players will take the field everyday at 6:00pm except for Sundays, which they have off. On August 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th the team will hold two-a-days at 8:00am and 6:00pm.
Fall Camp will include two scrimmages, one of which being on Saturday, August 12th, and the other on August 19th, which will be preceded by the annual Meet the Team gathering at Arizona Stadium.
Unless any player gets cleared today, Fall Camp will open without Louis Holmes, Gabe Long, Mike Turner, D'Aundre Reed, Braylon Broughton and Derke Robinson. Once a player gets his situation cleared, he can take the field and practice with the rest of the team at Rincon.
The open practices will give fans the opportunity to watch a number of key position battles. All spring and summer long, UA fans have debated who will be the starters at positions such as running back, wide receiver and the offensive line, among others.
Can Chris Henry emerge from the others at running back? Will a freshman wide receiver beat out a veteran for a spot? Are the redshirt freshmen offensive linemen ready to make an impact right now?
Of course, also important will be the amount Willie Tuitama has progressed from his freshman campaign and the improved chemistry he should have with his wide receivers.
Arizona's secondary should be one of the best in the country next season but a starting position is still up for grabs, with Antoine Cason, Wilrey Fontenot and Michael Johnson all having secure spots.
While we wait for word on Holmes and Long, who will step up on the defensive line in their absence? Can the linebackers remain healthy this season?
These are just some of the several questions and position battles that we'll be taking a look at throughout Fall Camp.
Keep checking back at GOAZCATS.com throughout fall practice as we'll have the latest on the UA football team as it prepares for its September 2nd opener against BYU.
