Arizona earned yet another big commitment in the 2015 class to add to its already loaded group when four-star big man Chance Comanche made his verbal pledge official with the Wildcats Sunday morning after his official visit to Tucson over the weekend. The No. 31-ranked prospect in the 2015 class, who plays his high school basketball at Beverly Hills High School in California, joins a group that Rivals.com already had rated as the top group in the class up to this point.
Comanche is the Wildcats' fourth commitment in the class to go along with five-star recruits Justin Simon, Ray Smith, and Allonzo Trier who all play on the perimeter.
After spending time on campus in Tucson over the weekend Comanche decided the time was right to end his recruitment.
"I just felt real comfortable around the coaches and the team," Comanche told GOAZCATS.com on Sunday. "It just felt right the school, the weather was great, the campus was beautiful. I was just real excited to be there. And then the new arena too on top of all of that."
During his official visit Comanche tweeted about the bond he was already feeling with the current Arizona players, and in the end that was a big factor in the overall decision-making process that was helped along by his official visit to Tucson.
"That was a big part of it because I kept thinking to myself that if I did end up here and I'm going to play with these players I want to make sure I'm going to get along with them," he said. "They treat me right and they treat me like I'm one of them, and they're just not putting me to the side and worrying about themselves."
One of the other big factors in Comanche's decision to choose Arizona was Sean Miller and the coaching staff. The Wildcats have been involved and have had interest in Comanche since early in the process and in the end that paid off for the program in getting his commitment.
"Something that put Arizona over the top was the way coach Miller and coach (Joe) Pasternack have been recruiting me since I first started high school," he said. "They were there from Day 1 for me really."
Comanche chose Arizona over other options like Connecticut, Arizona State, UCLA, and N.C. State. In the end it wasn't an easy decision for the 6-foot-11 recruit, but one he feels very comfortable in now that it's over.
"It was a hard decision," Comanche said. "I had some other great schools to choose from. The coaches and players from other schools were great too, but it felt right at the end of the day in my gut. It felt like the right decision."
Continuing to improve his skill set and develop his game more will now be the focus for Comanche as he turns his attention to his final high school season.
"Moving forward I just want to get through my senior season strong," he said. "I just want to get bigger and keep getting better. I'm going to work on my shot and really work on my game as a whole before I get there so when I do I'm already where I should be, and then they can push me from there."
Comanche took official visits to UConn and ASU before making his decision Sunday.
