a little over a week ago on Saturday, Jan. 6, former Arizona defensive coordinator took the Texas co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coaching job leaving the program after two seasons in Tucson.
On Sunday morning, the Wildcats' defensive staff took another hit as assistant defensive coach Duane Akina has been reported to be heading to Texas according to Zach Barnett of footballscoop.com.
It is expected that Akina will be taking a defensive analysis role with Texas. This will mark the second stint in Texas as he was a coach for the Longhorns from 2001-2013 before leaving to Stanford.
Akina was looked at as a potential candidate to succeed Nansen as the Wildcats new defensive coordinator. Now, you can make him off that list of names for Arizona as it will now look to replace two coaches on its defensive staff.
