It wasn't a big surprise, but it was an important commitment for Arizona last week when in-state point guard Alex Barcello gave the Wildcats his pledge while on an official visit. Sean Miller and his staff made the soon-to-be four-star recruit a priority over the summer and although Barcello has held an offer from the 'Cats for quite some time when UA turned up the heat it made all the difference.

As a standout at Tempe-Corona del Sol the 6-foot-2 recruit knows all about the Wildcats and their tradition with guards. UA's tradition was an important part of the process, but being able to get on campus again and spend time with some of his future teammates helped push things over the top and give Barcello the push he needed to move on a decision he had been working toward in recent weeks.

"As the summer was wrapping up I wanted to go to every school and find out which one was best for me," Barcello said about his thought process in coming to a decision. "I knew that obviously Arizona was on me really hard, but I just wanted to make sure it was the right fit. So I visited Butler and Stanford and then I was setting up an official for Indiana after Arizona.

"But once I got to Arizona I felt that it was the best fit for me. I had that feeling having a close relationship with coach Miller, and then I also had a pretty special bond with the guys. It was the overall best fit for me. Being in that environment and being around the whole team and coaching staff I felt that it would be the best fit for me and my college career."
