Top takeaways: Tommy Lloyd and players Red-Blue Showcase press conference

Arizona had its annual Red-Blue Showcase on Friday night in front of 14,688 fans. Ultimately, after the pregame festivities, it was Blue team that took down the Red team 60-48. Oumar Ballo was the leading scorer for the Wildcats with 18 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.

After the game, Tommy Lloyd, along with Ballo, Filip Borovinanin and KJ Lewis spoke to the media about the Red-Blue game.

‘A cumulation of simple plays is better’

Lloyd’s biggest observation of the night was that the fancy “extra” plays that Arizona attempted were unsuccessful, which he said was good for coaching the fundamentals and having his players stick to them more down the road.

“I thought when we kept things simple for the most part, we looked good,” Lloyd said. “When we tried to dunk on somebody, some superhero-type play, it didn’t work out as well, so to me, that was one of the biggest things that I noticed overall.
