Arizona has been busy during the summer by landing the top recruit in the state in four-star edge rusher Elijah Rushing showing the importance of keeping players home.

"We've had over the last two years two of the best recruiting classes Arizona has ever had," coach Jedd Fisch during Pac-12 Media Day. "First time in the history of Arizona football they finished in the top 40 twice in a row. My expectation is that we finish even higher this year."

However, Fisch and is staff weren't done and put the cherry on top of the 2024 class by landing a commitment from four-star quarterback Demond Williams Jr. Monday morning. The Chandler-Basha senior announced his commitment to the Wildcats on social media with a highlight video of a visit he took over the weekend to campus.

"Our goal is to keep kids in Arizona at home," Fisch said. "Our goal is to keep kids from Tucson at home. We're working very hard to achieve that goal."

Before flipping to Arizona, Williams decommitted from Ole Miss back in early July, he stated that he wanted to take some visits before selecting a new program.

Now, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound quarterback has picked Arizona giving the team two Rivals250 recruits and moving the class up to No. 36 nationally in the overall team rankings.

Williams is the second four-star quarterback that Fisch and quarterbacks coach Jimmie Dougherty have been able to land after signing Brayden Dorman as a member of the 2023 class, which finished 41st in the previous cycle.

"It was great, because I really got to see what the crowd looked like, and how they played against some really good competition, SEC competition," Williams said about a September visit he made to UA.

Within the state, Arizona has landed a commitment from five of the top-20 recruits, according to the Rivals rankings, with ASU only have two players on that list of recruits. Oregon and Texas also have two commits on the list, but with just two uncommitted prospects remaining within Arizona, it is likely UA will be the program with the most commitments from the state when the cycle comes to an end.

With Williams (No. 6) and Rushing (No. 1), the Wildcats have two of the top six players in the state.

UA now holds 19 commitments for 2024, and seven members of that group already call Arizona their home.

Should Williams remain in his current spot in the rankings, he would be the first Rivals250 quarterback to sign with the Wildcats since Khalil Tate as a member of the 2016 class.
