Arizona adds Plant as third 2018 commitment

Arizona is starting to build some momentum in its 2018 class and Wednesday evening the Wildcats added the third piece to the class with the addition of three-star defensive end Adam Plant Jr. from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect came to a decision quickly in his recruitment and picked the 'Cats over offers from USC and Penn State.

Plant recently took home MVP honors at the Rivals Camp Series stop in California where he proved to be the most consistent defensive end at the event. Plant is just the latest recruit for safeties coach and Las Vegas recruiter Jahmile Addae and it was that relationship and his relationship with the rest of the staff that played a part in the Wildcats earning the pledge Wednesday.

The three-star prospect already visited UA earlier this spring when the made the trip with a handful of other Las Vegas recruits including Noah Jefferson who plans to transfer from USC to UA this year.

It was clear recently that the Wildcats had the edge in his recruitment despite other programs starting to get more involved.

"I think it's great everything that they're doing right now," he said. "They're getting the program put back together after last season, so it's really good. Coach (Rich) Rodriguez has something special going on there."

Plant joins Tucson-based recruits quarterback Jamarye Joiner and offensive tackle David Watson as the first members of Arizona's 2018 class.
