Three-star DL Watson commits to Arizona

[rl]
Arizona added its first commitment of the summer Wednesday evening when three-star defensive lineman Jabari Watson announced his decision to join the Wildcats' 2016 class. The Fontana (Calif.) Summit prospect chose the 'Cats over offers from Boise State, San Diego State among others. In the end the possibility of playing in the Pac-12 Conference and his level of comfort with Arizona's staff won out.

Watson joins the Wildcats' class as the third prospect on the defensive side of the ball along with fellow defensive lineman Justin Holt and defensive back Isaiah Hayes.
After not knowing when he would make his decision Watson decided to join a number of other prospects he trains with at Ground Zero's second commitment ceremony where he announced UA as his future college. Watson camped with the Wildcats in June and it did not take long for him to take an interest with the 'Cats.
"You never know when that offer is going to come, but they offered right after the camp and it was pretty amazing feeling knowing I did well enough for them to give me an offer right on the spot like that," Watson told GOAZCATS.com this week. "So that was actually pretty surprising for me."
The 6-foot-3 prospect who could play either as a defensive end or as a tackle on the inside at the next level has been working on his skill set this offseason to prepare himself for his senior year and college ball as well.
"So far I've been focusing on getting a little bit bigger and a lot faster," he said. "I have to get my body ready not only for next season but for the next level instead of just being good enough to get on the field in my senior year I want to be ready for the next level. That's what I've been working on most right now."
The summer tends to be a big time for Arizona when it comes to grabbing commitments, but coming off a 10-win season and a spot in the Fiesta Bowl last year the Wildcats have been a little slower in the process this cycle. Watson is just the fourth commitment for Arizona since April 15. Arizona's last commitment came June 10 when Hayes made his decision.
The newest Wildcat pledge is currently rated No. 84 on Rivals.com's list of top prospects from the state of California.
