Tate wins second consecutive Pac-12 POW award

It had been a while since Arizona had a player win a Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week award before quarterback Khalil Tate earned the honor after his performance against Colorado a week ago. Welp, the Wildcats (4-2, 2-1 Pac-12) might have to get used it again. Monday, the sophomore from Inglewood, California earned the honor for a second consecutive week after leading Arizona to a 47-30 win over UCLA Saturday night.

The victory marked the first time Arizona won a game against the Bruins in half a decade going back to the 2011 season prior to the arrival of Rich Rodriguez and Jim Mora as the head coaches of the respective schools.

Against CU, Tate finished the game with a new FBS single-game rushing record for quarterbacks after gaining 327 yards on the ground in the win. He backed that performance up Saturday with the sixth-best rushing performance in UA history with 230 yards on the ground and two touchdowns against the Bruins.

Tate also had nine completions for 148 yards and another score through the air for UA in the game. His performance on the ground allowed him to become the first quarterback since 1997 to rush for at least 200 yards in back-to-back games.
