Pitts picks the Cats

After a summer of evaluating and watching potential future Wildcats, Arizona nabbed its first 2013 recruit Sunday afternoon when Concord (Calif.) De La Salle guard Elliott Pitts gave Sean Miller's program his verbal commitment.
"Taking everything into consideration with all these schools," he said. "There was not anything wrong with them, I just felt it was the perfect fit for me. With their style of play and looking at their players, I definitely think I could fit well with them.

"And I mean their coaching staff really did a great job recruiting me and I feel like I can bond with them when they get there. And also I think they can make me a better player, which is huge for me."
The UA staff watched plenty of the rising senior over the spring and summer, and a week after taking an unofficial visit to Tucson Pitts felt like it was the right time to end his recruitment.
"One of the things that was really great for me was seeing that practice that they had," he said. "They had a workout and just to see the intensity that they practice with it reminded me of De La Salle's practices and I could tell how much the players liked each other.
"I could tell how coach Miller liked his players, which is awesome to see, and I'm looking forward to being a part of that."
With his commitment now out of the way, Pitts said he is relieved to have his mind made up and he's now ready to put all his effort into his senior year at De La Salle.
"It's a huge weight [lifted of my shoulders]," he said. "I didn't want to rush my decision, that's why I waited a week after my visit so I could really think about it. And just that whole week there was just nothing bad that I could think of, so that's why I knew I wanted to go.
"I'm just looking forward to getting back with my team and getting some more practices in and really bonding with them so we can have a really great season coming up."
Pitts is ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and he is also rated as the nation's 141st-best recruit overall. The first 2013 UA commit chose the 'Cats over offers from California, Georgetown and Washington among others.
