The Philadelphia Eagles made Nick Foles' childhood dream come true Friday night.
The former Arizona quarterback was selected in the third round - with the 88th overall pick - of the NFL draft. He was the seventh quarterback taken in the draft behind Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden, Brock Osweiler and Russell Wilson.
Foles, who is the first Wildcats quarterback to be drafted since 1961, worked out for the Eagles earlier this month in his lone visit.
"I'm and Eagle!!!!" Foles tweeted shortly after he was selected. "So honored to be apart of such a great organization!"
Foles set the single-season (4,334 yards) and career passing (10,011) records at Arizona in his three seasons after transferring from Michigan State.
Among his strengths are: a 6-5, 243-pound build and what former NFL head coach Jon Gruden called "excellent" abilities as a pocket passer. However, Foles also paid the price at times and took several hits last season because of a lack of footwork and mobility.
He was the only Wildcat to be drafted through the first two days of the draft. Among those waiting to hear their name called are wide receiver Juron Criner and cornerback Trevin Wade.
Rounds four through seven will take place Saturday.
