It took place a few weeks ago during the flurry to the end of the 2017 recruiting cycle and National Signing Day. Arizona made an offer to Las Vegas-based three-star receiver Jaden Mitchell. The Wildcats had success in Las Vegas during the 2017 recruiting cycle earning pledges from a handful of recruits including freshman linebacker and Desert Pines standout Tony Fields and Bishop Gorman cornerback Malik Hausman.

Mitchell considers both to be friends and after playing for Desert Oasis previously he will finish his high school career at Desert Pines where the Wildcats will add a few players from by the end of the summer.

It was a big moment for Mitchell when Rich Rodriguez personally made the offer to him. It was of course his first, but it was also a chance to build on it and see where his recruitment goes next. Still, with Arizona's ties to Vegas it all could very well in the end lead back to Tucson.

"It was actually really crazy I wasn't expecting it," Mitchell said of the offer and how it came to be. "It was really shocking, but I had a feeling that something would be coming soon."

When Rodriguez made it down to his school Mitchell was under the impression that the UA head coach was just stopping by to take a look at him in person and get a better idea of him as a recruit. He didn't expect that the day would end with an offer.
