Cats Confidential: Reggie Gilbert

Arizona defensive lineman Reggie Gilbert is going to his junior year with experience under his belt and determination.

In the 2012 season he played in 11 games and started eight of them as a defensive tackle. He recorded 19 tackles and recovered two fumbles. Six of his tackles resulted in a loss of 32 yards and he also had 3.5 sacks for 29 yards.

Wildcats head coach Rich Rodriguez mentioned on Monday that UA's scrimmages give the players a chance to have some fun, and this week's scrimmage in Phoenix will have many of the players excited because it will be a homecoming of sorts.

Gilbert is one of the players looking forward to Friday's scrimmage because he played his high school ball in the Phoenix area at Fairfax High School in Laveen, Ariz. Something else that has Gilbert excited about the scrimmage at Phoenix College is that some of his biggest critics will be on hand - his family.

"It makes me work that much harder," he said. "I know if they catch me slacking I'm never going to hear the end of it."
