Solomon back in the Rivals250
There was a time when four-star, Arizona-bound quarterback Anu Solomon was in the Rivals250. The last time around the Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman signal caller fell off the list. However, after securing his fourth consecutive state title and having another big year for the Gaels, Solomon moved back into the rankings in a big way.
Solomon moved from outside the Rivals250 all the way up to No. 131 overall in Monday's release of the new list.
The talented signal caller led his team to a 13-1 season and another state title. Statistically it was Solomon's best year when it came to completion percentage as he connected on 68 percent of his passes. He also threw for more than 35 touchdowns for the third straight year with 37 this season.
Rivals.com West analyst Rob Cassidy believes there are numerous reasons for the significant bump in ranking.
"Playing for powerhouse Bishop Gorman, Solomon had no shortage of opportunity to earn a significant bump in the rankings," Cassidy said. "He took advantage. He threw for more than 2,600 yards and 32 touchdowns as a senior -- and those numbers don't include anything he did in the state title game. If that weren't enough to solidify his standing as a top-level quarterback, he ran for eight scores as well.
"Solomon proved it against top level competition time and time again this season. More importantly, though, he fits the mold of what (UA head coach) Rich Rodriguez expects his quarterbacks to be."
With B.J. Denker, Solomon and now Jesse Scroggins now all in the mix next season the starting quarterback position battle should be quite interesting in Tucson next fall.
The team rankings will be released later this week and Solomon's new ranking could help boost the Wildcats in that category as well.
