EYBL Bruin Prospect overview

BruinBlitz.com spent the last two and one half days covering the exceptional Nike EYBL traveling tournament at the HAX in Hawthorne, and interviewed ten UCLA recruits between the games. BruinBlitz.com looks at their games and presents the results of their interviews in this article. These players were very good and would make great additions to the UCLA team. They are all 2011 recruits unless otherwise identified so UCLA can only take two or three depending on how many scholarships open up this coming season.

Nike makes every player in the nation that plays for them attend these events so the competition was outstanding and the players were among the best in the country.

1. Josh Richardson (6-5, 185) Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe

Richardson is a spectacular athlete who is unstoppable going to the hoop with his unreal quickness and coordination. He jumps out of the gym and plays defense as hard as he can. He shoots the jumper very well and has every move in the book. Richardson told BruinBlitz.com that he wants to be a doctor and has put UCLA in his top three schools along with Baylor and one other school. He talked about how exceptional the UCLA Medical School is and how strong the UCLA basketball program has been over the years.

Richardson is a certain NBA pro someday and it will be interesting to see if he stays all four years in college and then attends medical school or joins the NBA after one or two years in college. He was one of the top players at this event and one of the best players seen by BruinBlitz.com in several years. His parents visited the UCLA campus Sunday and reportedly had a super visit. The parents are very fine people and their visit went great.
