Five-star power forward clears things up

Lately there has been some confusion about the recruitment of five-star power forward Johnny O'Bryant.

Rumors came out that the 6-foot-9, 235-pound junior from Cleveland, Miss., had named a final Top Three. But O'Bryant confirmed Tuesday night that while he is beginning to narrow down his list, nothing is definite.

"I am kind of narrowing my list down," O'Bryant said. "A guy the other night kind of put me out and asked me who was the three schools I was looking at so I gave him some names. He kind of made it seem like that was all I was looking at. So my favorites are Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Baylor, Arkansas, Alabama and Harvard."

The Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen selection is considering remaining instate for his future but did not rule out the possibility of attending school outside the Magnolia State.

"I'm definitely thinking a lot about staying close to home because I have a lot of family and they could come see me play," O'Bryant said. "But at the same time, if I have to go off then I'm pretty sure they will support me just the same."

One instate program that O'Bryant has unofficially visited this fall was Mississippi State. O'Bryant made the trip from the Delta to Starkville on Sept. 26 for the LSU football game which helped the Bulldogs chances of landing the No. 13 prospect in the 2011 class.
