Derrick Fazendin grew up in Mission Viejo, California, just an hour away from Los Angeles, one of the sports capitals of the world. He grew up a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, St. Louis Rams, and of course the Arizona Wildcats. Derrick has followed Wildcat basketball, football and baseball most of his life, despite the fact he did not grow up in Arizona. In 2007 Derrick became the Sports Editor of a small newspaper called The Diablo Dispatch, while also receiving numerous awards including placing 10th in the state of California in an "on the spot" writing competition.
Though he enjoys writing, Derrick has always had a passion for radio and currently hosts his own sports talk radio show at the University of Arizona, on KAMP Sports Radio. He also has interned with fellow GOAZCATS.com contributor and local ESPN radio host Jody Oehler on his show “Happy Hour.”
Derrick is currently majoring in journalism and is pursuing a minor in sports management at the UA. This is Derrick's second year covering the Arizona Baseball team for GOAZCATS.com after covering the team in 2009.
