Wildcats picked 4th in Pac-12 South
CULVER CITY, Calif. -- The Pac-12 Conference media predicted Arizona will finish fourth in the conference's South division, according to the preseason poll released Friday morning at the conference's media day.
The Wildcats follow Arizona State (second), USC (third) and defending divisional champion UCLA (first). The Bruins are the media's choice to again represent the South in the Pac-12 Conference championship game for a third straight season.
UCLA received 12 of 27 first-place votes.
Oregon edged out Stanford in the North's predictions. The Ducks received 15 first-place votes. The Cardinal received 11.
"A chance to compete in the Rose Bowl awaits [the conference champion] this year," conference commissioner Larry Scott said. "This is the 100th and the 93rd the Pac-12 is participating."
UA travels to ASU and USC this season, and hosts UCLA. The Wildcats went 1-2 against the divisional front-runners a season ago.
Utah and Colorado were tabbed fifth and sixth.
The complete divisional voting is as follows:
Oregon (145 points)
Oregon State (95)
Washington State (33
Arizona State (130)
