For a second consecutive year, Valentine's Day will bring Arizona a matchup that can only be loved - even if the schools do not particularly like one another.
Among the highlights of the Pac-12 Conference scheduled released Friday, the Wildcats will travel to Arizona State for a Feb. 14 showdown. Last season, UA visited budding nemesis Colorado in a juicy affair heightened by the controversial finish between the teams earlier in the slate.
This year, the Wildcats will open the league schedule with five of the first seven games at McKale Center. UA will host Washington (Jan. 2), Washington State (Jan. 4), ASU (Jan. 18), Colorado (Jan. 23) and Utah (Jan. 25) in that stretch. In between will be a road trip to Pac-12 regular-season champion UCLA (Jan. 9) and USC (Jan. 11).
It will be the Wildcats' lone games against the Southern California schools, meaning UA fans will have to hit the road if they want to see a Pac-12 tournament semifinal rematch against the same Bruins that swept the 'Cats in three contests last season.
Arizona will close the first month at Stanford (Jan. 30) and open February at California (Feb. 1), followed by home contests against Pac-12 tournament champion Oregon (Feb. 6) and Oregon State (Feb. 8).
The Valentine's Day date with the Sun Devils will start a stretch that puts the Wildcats on the road for five of the last seven regular-season games. UA will have a two-game Rocky Mountain trip to Utah (Feb. 20) and Colorado (Feb. 22) before closing the home slate against California (Feb. 27) and Stanford (March 1).
Arizona will finish the regular season at Oregon State (March 6) and Oregon (March 8).
For a second consecutive season, the Pac-12 tournament will be played March 12-15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Tip-off times have yet to be announced and dates remain subject to change, depending on the selection of the league's TV partners.
The Wildcats will open the 2013-14 season at home against Cal Poly on Nov. 8.
